During the application process, you'll see Legal Karma's disclosure. Have questions about what that legal jargon means?
Let's break it down:
- Legal Karma is not the substitute for an attorney or law firm. Legal Karma isn't a law firm or a group of attorneys. They partner with attorneys in each state in order to ensure the estate planning documents align with state law when you follow the steps and instructions provided.
- Legal Karma does not provide legal advice. Legal Karma provides you with access to information and educational resources that’ll help you create a comprehensive will or trust package and offers free, unlimited, live phone/chat support throughout the process. You’ll have full control over your estate planning documents.
- This site and applications are not intended to create any attorney-client relationship, and its use does not and will not create an attorney-client relationship. The use of Legal Karma's services doesn’t create an attorney-client relationship or prevent you from seeking legal advice elsewhere. After your documents are finalized, you're free to share them as you wish, including with attorneys and legal professionals.

Estate planning is the process of making arrangements for your assets and affairs after you pass away or become incapacitated. It can include:
- Documents: Creating a will, power of attorney, medical directives or trust.
- Medical requests: Communicating your end-of-life care wishes, such as a do-not-resuscitate order.
- Guardianship: Nominating guardians for minor children.
-
Some reasons to start estate planning include:
- New job or increase in wealth.
- Change in marital status.
- Travel (so your family knows what to do if something happens to you).
- Adding children or other dependents to your family.
While there's no specific age at which to start estate planning, it's generally recommended to begin as soon as you become a legal adult. This is because you're now legally responsible for everything you own, and your assets need to be distributed no matter how many or how few there are.
-
Estate planning is an important part of a healthy financial plan. We encourage you to take charge of your future by teaming with a resource that can help you plan for your medical, financial, and asset distribution intentions to eliminate uncertainty and clearly outline your wishes for the medical professionals and financial institutions you’re associated with. We're committed to providing these opportunities for you at a fair and reasonable cost through Legal Karma as a part of your benefits as a PSECU member.
You can also take advantage of additional services to help support your financial goals:
- Insurance. Get the protection you need and the savings you deserve for home, auto, life, and pets.
- Financial Planning. Options for whether you have a few extra dollars to invest or a nest egg to grow.
- MedicareCU. The no-stress way to shop for Medicare (Traditional Medicare, Medicare Advantage and Medigap options).
-
Service packages range in price from $249 to $899. You'll find a detailed overview of pricing information above, as well as after beginning the process by visiting the authentication page and completing a quiz. The quiz will help you select the package that's right for you, and you'll complete your order through Legal Karma's secure payment portal after submitting your completed documents.
