PSECU is hosting its first-ever Virtual Blood Drive during the month of March.
Harrisburg, PA (March 2, 2022) – PSECU, Pennsylvania's digital-first credit union, invites members and friends to join in a lifesaving Virtual Blood Drive event.
The Red Cross continues to need blood and platelet donations every single day to help those battling diseases and facing the unexpected. Although PSECU is not able to hold a physical blood drive at this time, the credit union is still committed to helping hospital patients. The goal of the Virtual Blood Drive is for donors to give blood at locations near them as part of the greater effort to come together and help save lives.
According to the Red Cross, trauma victims, cancer patients, and those living with sickle cell disease often rely on blood products for treatment. You can help make sure blood is on the shelves in your community by giving blood with PSECU throughout the month of March.
"As the largest credit union in Pennsylvania, we have members in every county of the Commonwealth and beyond. That's why we wanted to launch a Virtual Blood Drive that would empower members and friends to donate locally in their communities, making a difference where they live, work, and play," said Karen Rousche, PSECU Public Relations Coordinator.
The credit union encourages members and their friends to make an appointment through PSECU’s Virtual Blood Drive page by March 31, 2022. Once you're registered, completion of a RapidPass online health history questionnaire found at RedCrossBlood.org/RapidPass is encouraged to help speed up the donation process. A blood donor card, driver's license, or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds, and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
