Harrisburg, PA (February 24, 2023) - PSECU, Pennsylvania’s largest credit union, has been named to the 2023 Top 100 Organizations list by PA Business Central (PBC).
The Top 100 Organizations list is compiled with input from community leaders, chambers of commerce, and PBC readers across the publication’s 23-county area. It serves as an opportunity to highlight the vibrancy of Central PA’s socio-economic climate by recognizing the organizations that are having a powerful impact on their communities.
“PSECU believes in helping our members achieve more; we strive to be a trusted financial partner and advocate for the well-being of the members and communities we serve throughout Central PA and beyond,” remarked George Rudolph, PSECU President & CEO. “It’s an honor for PSECU to be named among the central Pennsylvania region’s top organizations.”
According to PBC, The Top 100 Organizations list aims to celebrate and share the stories of companies who are identifying and responding to needs, ensuring goods & services are delivered efficiently, and providing expertise, knowledge, and care to problems facing individuals and communities in Central PA.
Each year, PSECU contributes more than $350,000 in monetary support to organizations throughout the commonwealth, focused on supporting causes related to children, education, well-being, and the environment. Additionally, PSECU offers free financial wellness resources in the form of community and school presentations, webinars, podcasts, online learning videos, and a blog. Employee volunteerism has long been a component of PSECU’s corporate social responsibility efforts and while derailed during the height of the pandemic, this initiative has resumed, connecting employees directly to their communities.
In 2022, PSECU raised an additional $54,000 through the PSECU Chips In Golf Tournament, with those dollars going directly to Junior Achievement (JA).
“JA would like to thank PSECU for their commitment to inspire and prepare students to succeed in a global economy,” said JA South Central PA CEO Tom Russell. “Financial literacy and career readiness are passions of JA and PSECU. Together we can make a difference in the lives of local students in Pennsylvania.”
Also in 2022, a $50,000 donation was made to the Central Pennsylvania Region of the American Red Cross to assist with rescue efforts related to Hurricane Ian.
“Thanks to generous donors like PSECU, Red Cross volunteers and employees are providing safe shelter, nourishing meals, and more to affected individuals and families,” said Central Pennsylvania Region Executive Director, Laura Burke.
Finally, PSECU continues to distribute funds via its annual scholarship program, a hallmark of its community initiatives. In 2022, $48,000 was awarded to six high school seniors.
“Since we started our scholarship program in 1997, we’ve disbursed more than $780,000 in scholarships to 155 students,” said Karen Rousche, PSECU Community Relations Coordinator. “It's something we’re very proud of because we know that it has helped young students find opportunity, reach their goals, and prepare for the future.”
This is the seventh consecutive year the credit union has received a Top 100 Organizations designation from PBC.
