Harrisburg, PA – August 6, 2024 – PSECU, Pennsylvania's digital-first credit union, today announced a $25,000 donation to the American Red Cross to assist with relief following episodic disasters, including hurricanes and wildfires. PSECU executives presented the donation to the American Red Cross at PSECU’s corporate headquarters in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
"Supporting the American Red Cross aligns with PSECU's core values of community and compassion," said PSECU President & CEO George Rudolph. "We recognize the profound impact disasters have on people's lives, and this donation reflects our commitment to standing with our communities when they need us most."
The American Red Cross provides vital assistance, resources, and support to areas affected by episodic disasters. PSECU's donation will help the organization fulfill its mission of delivering essential services and relief during critical times.
“PSECU’s generous donation allows us to provide immediate relief when episodic disasters strike here in Pennsylvania and throughout the country,” said Laura Burke, Executive Director of the Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Red Cross. “Our ongoing partnership significantly enhances the American Red Cross’ ability to extend our reach and make a greater impact.”
PSECU has a long history of supporting the American Red Cross. To date, PSECU has donated $130,000 to the organization. In 2017, after Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria, PSECU conducted a member donation drive that raised an additional $115,479 for relief efforts.
PSECU also hosts the American Red Cross at the company’s tailgating tent before Penn State’s football games. The American Red Cross uses this opportunity to raise awareness for its veteran programs. On Penn State’s Military Appreciation Day, PSECU invites American Red Cross volunteers who are veterans to watch the game from their suite.
In recognition of PSECU’s substantial support, the Central PA American Red Cross honored PSECU with the Most Valuable Partner award in 2023.
