PSECU employees across multiple locations joined forces to create hygiene kits for students in Pennsylvania school districts facing homelessness or housing instability.
Harrisburg, PA – October 18, 2024 – In celebration of International Credit Union (ICU) Day on October 17, PSECU, Pennsylvania’s digital-first credit union, mobilized its employees across multiple locations to create 2,100 hygiene kits for students identified as homeless or near homeless. The kits, which include essentials such as shampoo, body wash, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and deodorant, will be distributed to students in the Indiana Area, State College Area, Allentown, and Susquehanna Township School Districts.
The initiative involved 25 employees from PSECU’s offices in Indiana, State College, Harrisburg, and the Lehigh University Financial Education Center. Employees at each location dedicated time and resources to assembling the hygiene kits as part of PSECU’s commitment to supporting local communities and enhancing well-being.
"This effort is about ensuring that students in our communities have what they need to focus on their education without worrying about the basics," said George Rudolph, PSECU President & CEO. "Supporting local communities is at the core of PSECU’s mission, and I’m incredibly proud of our employees for stepping up to make a difference for students who need it most.”
The volunteer project spanned several days, allowing PSECU employees to actively participate in giving back to their local communities. The hygiene kits will be distributed to schools in the coming days to ensure students have the essentials they need as they navigate their academic journeys.
