Three Free Checking Features You Might Be Missing

Written by PSECU | Jul 4, 2023 12:00:00 PM

Managing your money shouldn’t be complicated. That’s why PSECU’s free checking account is designed to make your life easier. Packed with members-only perks that go beyond the basics, you can get more than just a place to store your funds. In this article, we’re sharing three of our favorites that you might be overlooking.

1. Free Credit Score Service*

It seems like everyone checks your credit - from potential lenders to possible employers and beyond. With so many important decisions relying on your credit score, it’s important that you monitor it regularly, as well.

Many online services are available to monitor your credit; however, many of these companies charge a fee.

That’s where your PSECU checking account can help you save. PSECU members with a checking account or loan can enroll in our free credit score service. The primary owner of the account must be 18 years of age or older. Eligible members can sign up for our free credit score service in online and mobile banking.

  • Online banking. Click on the menu in the upper left corner, then select FICO® and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Mobile app. Tap the menu in the upper left corner, then select FICO, and follow the prompts.

Once you’re enrolled, you’ll receive monthly updates on your credit score, at no cost and with no impact to your credit.

2. Account Alerts

Keeping your financial accounts secure is an important piece of good money management. And here at PSECU, we’re proud to team up with our members to help them do so.

One way we do this is by giving you access to over 30 free account alerts that notify you when certain activity occurs on your account, such as an ATM withdrawal or a purchase.

While you’re likely aware that these transactions are occurring, alerts help protect you in those times that you don’t, such as instances when your account information has been compromised. If you receive a notification for a charge or transaction you or another authorized user didn’t make, you can reach out to us immediately for help securing your account.

You can sign up for alerts in online and mobile banking.

  • Click or tap the menu in the upper left corner.
  • Click or tap Profile & Settings, then Alerts in online banking and Manage Alerts in mobile.
  • The Notification Preferences screen will appear. Here you will select whether you’d like to receive individual alerts by text or push notifications. You must select one, and this selection will be visible to you as you manage individual alerts.
  • After making your selection on Notification Preferences, select individual alerts and follow the on-screen instructions.

3. Options for Quick & Easy Money Transfers

Maybe you want to send money to another PSECU member. Or you might want to pay someone you know and trust who’s not a PSECU member yet (if so, you should refer them!).

You may need to bring money into your PSECU account from accounts you have at other financial institutions or send money to an account you have elsewhere.

No matter what you’re looking to do, you can likely accomplish it with one of our 24/7 money transfer services.
